Hair Restoration Methods

There are a wide variety of hair restoration methods in the marketplace today. Back in earlier days it was either a glued on wig or very artificial looking hair plugs. In today’s modern world, there are countless new methodologies coming to market seemingly on a constant basis. Rogaine and Propecia made a big splash when they came to market in the ’90s as the first widely available non-invasive, non surgical and non-glued on methods of reclaiming your scalp with a full head of hair.

In 1993, in response to Rogaine’s initial lofty prices, some friends of mine even started their own business to bus people down to Mexico so they could buy the same quality hair restoration drug for pennies on the dollar, and they did quite well. Now in 2010, both Rogaine and Propecia  products have come down a lot in price, though of course both drugs are still cheaper too buy in Canada and Mexico.  And today, there are even more drugs and techniques on the market for you to consider so it can be understandably rather confusing to navigate and choose what method or product is best for you.
While hair restoration can work in many different ways, the basic premise is the same regardless of which technique you look at. It’s all about increasing hair coverage on your scalp to give you a fuller head of hair with hopes of giving you a better quality of life as a result. You have to decide what method you are most comfortable with and it is always wise to consult your normal doctor before you make such a major decision as it can obviously potentially affect your health as a whole if handled improperly or even when handled perfectly there can be side effects of the drugs and/or surgical processes undergone to restore your hair to it’s old self.

Do your research – new methods can seem attractive and exciting, but if they are too new, the real long term side effects may not yet be known, so you really don’t want to get into any new technology or medicine too early in the game and end up basically being a guinea pig for science. Let them work out the problems for a few years in the marketplace before thinking about jumping on board. It’s just like Windows when they come out with new software and the first year or two it doesn’t work at all, but in the case of your body and health, the negative effects can be much worse for you over the long term.
