Is there no need to fear hair restoration surgery?

Many people today have discovered the benefits of hair restoration surgery and have successfully regained their original appearance and a full head of hair once they had the restoration procedure performed.  However, there are still others who haven’t taken advantage of these procedures for a number of reasons.  Granted, they have consulted with a hair restoration surgeon who recommended the procedure that they felt would benefit the individual the most.  But still they procrastinate and don’t take action.

Despite realizing that this is their only option and knowing that they could benefit from the hair restoration surgery that their surgeon recommended, they are hesitant at going through with it.  So, what are the reasons for this hesitation? What is it that stops people from having the procedure performed? From what we have discovered, there are three primary fears involved on behalf of these individuals that cause them to hesitate about having the surgery done.

The fear of pain

For many individuals, they have heard horror stories from family members or friends who had a bad experience because of not selecting an experienced hair restoration surgeon to perform the surgery.  Granted, there is going to be some slight discomfort once the procedure is completed, but it is only brief.  Besides that, surgeons will usually prescribe an antibiotic to fight off infection and a painkiller to relieve any discomfort you may experience once you have undergone the procedure.

The fear of how you will look to others

Another fear is that the individual worries how they are going to look to their family members and friends after they have had hair restoration surgery.  In most cases, this stigma of an unattractive restoration surgery is far greater than the stigma of losing one’s hair.  The fear of being teased or looked at strangely overrides the person’s need to have the procedure performed.  Again, there may have been someone you know who had a bad experience in the past that causes your fears.

The fear of costs

Depending on the type of restoration surgery that you will need for regaining a natural looking head of hair, you could be looking at significant costs and fearing that you don’t have the budget for the surgery.  Just be aware of the fact that these costs will vary from one individual to the next.  Many hair restoration clinics today offer financing now, so you might be surprised at how easy it is to get financed so that you can pay for the procedure over time.
