Hair restoration involves a variety of methods used to restore hair to balding areas. Hair restoration involves many different treatments, such as topical, surgical and oral.

While there is no cure for genetic hair loss, there are many ways of hair restoration on today’s market. There are a variety of treatments and methods that claim to cure hair loss, ranging from acupuncture to vitamins, corticosteroids, and even laser treatments.

There are many reasons why some people start to loose hair and there are different types of hair loss.
Hereditary hair loss is very common. Other factors that play into hair loss are age, hormonal changes, genetic predisposition, stress, diseases, alopecia, medication side effects and toxins.

The most common form of hair loss is male pattern baldness. Follicles that normally produce viable hairs now produce increasingly thin and brittle hairs, which often end with the hair follicle not producing any new hair at all. Female hair loss is often thinned out over the entire head. Other causes of female hair loss can be due to stress or disorders of the thyroid gland. Pregnancy and childbirth can also contribute to a woman’s hair loss.

Today’s market offers various ways and means of hair restoration. New techniques and medications are constantly being launched. Some are scientifically tested and works. Others don’t.

A toupee could be a good solution to a male who looses hair only in one part of the crown. The toupee will act as a complement to the own hair. Toupees are usually made of natural materials which correspond well with both the scalp and hair.

Wigs are primarily used for total loss of hair. Today, wigs come in many different varieties, or can be customized just for you. Another hair restoration method involves tying a couple of hair strands into a single hair strand of your own, to make your hair appear thicker.

Hair transplantation is another option which usually involves moving hair from the neck to the crown.  Hair transplantations are a permanent and pleasing solution.

Laser treatments are yet another option. The approach is to stimulate the scalp with laser, which increases blood circulation to hair follicles and renews the flow of blood and thus can start to produce new hair. There are also a number of topical solutions and medicines that one can try.
Minoxidil, a topical medication which has been effective in stopping hair loss and promoting hair growth could be an option. The result is slightly better in women than in men, but either way requires life long use to keep up the results. There is also a prescription tablet called Finasteride, which is usually prescribed to balding men.
No matter why you are loosing hair there are many ways of replacing it, and you should try different methods to see which one works for you.
